About The Sussex Harmonisers

The Sussex Harmonisers is an inclusive male and female club, formed to enjoy and perform 4 part harmony and the Barbershop style of 4 part harmony in particular. The Sussex Harmonisers club is proud to be the first UK Barbershop organisation to offer both men’s and women’s harmony groups under one name.

We develop and promote performance through full chorus groups, octets and quartets.

Currently our performing choruses are, the Sussex Kings of Harmony which is a male chorus and Sussex A Cappella which is a female chorus

 Sussex 'KINGS of HARMONY'

The Sussex Kings of Harmony is a male voice chorus singing in the Barbershop style.  The current club has been in operation for over twelve years, though its roots (and several current members) date back even further through two other clubs – the Sussex Barbershop Singers and the Regency Harmonisers, which eventually joined together as The Sussex Harmonisers in 2005.  Drawing on members from all over the county – from Crawley to the north, to Hastings and Uckfield in the east, the men entertain audiences all over the south, as well as taking part in local and national competitions.

You can find our chorus page on Facebook here.

2019 saw the newly named chorus score its highest ever marks at the The British Association of Barbershop Singers (BABS) chorus competition in Bournemouth and being awarded the Most Improved Chorus award.

Sussex A Cappella

Still a relatively new ladies’ chorus – formed only in January 2018 in response to requests from ladies joining the ‘Sing with Us for Christmas’ programme and wanting to continue singing after the tree had been composted and the tinsel put away.  In a very short space of time the chorus has gone from complete beginnings to public performances, had a name change and extended its repertoire, providing the club with an extra dimension that not only adds variety, but also the potential for a third ‘mixed’ chorus.  Watch this space …
